Corporate League Rules

The Corporate League is played according to the normal FIH rules, with a couple of exceptions. Some of the rules have been adapted to ensure safety on the pitch, to cater for the effects of playing 7 a side and across pitch and finally to balance the skills difference so the game becomes more enjoyable for beginners and experienced players.

The following rules apply to the Corporate League matches:
4 the matches are played across the pitch, following the blue markings on the pitch
4

each team has 7 players including the goalie, if no keeper is present, 1 player must remain in the D as a kicking back and may not leave the Circle.

4 each team must at all times have a minimum of 1female player on the pitch, meaning that if a team has no ladies, the team can maximally put 6 players including the goalie on the pitch
4 each match lasts 2 * 25 minutes with a 5 minute break
4 each match is refereed by 1 umpire
4 no short corners, free hits are to be taken 1 meter outside the circle
4

hitting is permitted as long as no one is in the line of the pass. Hitting on goal is only permitted if no one is in line except a padded keeper.

4 a ball is considered high if it as above the height of the top of a shin pad (roughly 10cm below the knee)
4 outside the circle

  • No high ball is permitted
  • Balls lifted into the legs (above ankles) are not permitted.
  • Other than that – no problem – balls can be lifted over sticks, and can be played to the limit of “high” away from players (not dangerous)
4 inside the circle

  • Hitting is permitted below ankle height. No hitting above this is permitted whether at goal or not.
  • Hitting at goal is only permitted if a padded goalkeeper is present
  • Flicking above “high” at the goal is permitted, but only if no player (other than a padded goalkeeper) is in, or close to, the path between the ball and the goal.
Advice to the umpires
  • the first priority is safety, so decisions should be lead by this
  • be a bit more lenient towards beginners than experienced players
  • be clear in your decisions, and follow these rules
Advice to the players
  • the level of play and experience is mixed, keep that in mind at all times, people are there to enjoy the game
  • accept decisions by the referees, they are there for you and many may not be over experienced
  • keep it safe and fun
